    Description

Metlox Poppy Trail pottery in Provincial Blue, made in California. If you’re here, I’m guessing you’re familiar with Metlox
😊. Metlox Potteries was founded in 1927 in Manhattan Beach, CA and ran there until 1989.
A bowl featuring a cute drawing of a family of chickens inside with a decorative repeating pattern/design that circle along the lip.
A sugar, or lidded jar, with a neat finial and a detail that seems to mimic riveted metal or maybe leather. Design features a woman in farm attire in a landscape with a carrying pole or milkmaid’s pole.
Condition: Both pieces are in excellent- no notable cracks, chips, or repairs anywhere. Usual light wear common to a vintage item.
    Metlox Sugar bowl:
    Height with lid on: 5.5”
    Width across handles: 6.25”
    Metlox Dish:
    Height: 1.25”
    Diameter: 6”
    AND
A set of three antique sugar bowls. Didn’t want to leave these behind because of the odds of ever finding (3) together like this again. Couldn’t resist the deco design. American made by the Edwin M Knowles China Co, the ‘Hostess’ mark is the name of the shape of these bowls. Gold gilt details all around the lid and bowl, most of these Knowles with gold are of the 22k gilding type and are a “bright gold” result.
Could also be great vessels for candlemaking, or trinket bowls, etc.
Condition: Each of the lids have a small flea-bite or two along the edge on the underside. The arrows point at these out in each pic, pretty minimal. There is some crazing in the glaze in some areas.
The number coding after the ‘Made in USA’ tells us the year-month of production. Two are marked NOV 1940, and third is unmarked.
“In 1900 Edwin M. Knowles entered the pottery business as the founder and president of his company determining that his firm would manufacture only the finest semi-vitreous ware. The Knowles facility, located in Chester, West Virginia, was described as a "model plant of the highest order," plant No. 2 was built two miles south along the Ohio River in Newell, WV. The firm's first art director began in 1935 bringing in the deco-modern designs of the era.”
    Measures:
    Height: 4”
    Width across handles: 6.25”
    Volume: about 11 fl.oz

I find interesting, because I can’t keep it all, hah!
Usually that’s ceramics, art, barware, and other collectibles. Check my other auctions.
I’m happy to ‘group’ items for a bundle buy, just message me and tell what things you’re looking at. I always combine shipments if possible to get you the best rate (keep in mind, when it’s practical - things like a poster & ceramic vase aren’t gonna work together
    😊
    )
Anytime the eBay shipping calculator ends up charging an overage (not very often) I will refund the overage back to you- never try to ‘make money’ on shipping.
I always compare dimensional size/weight, and flat-rate, and regional boxes to get you the best shipment price!
    Cheers, thanks for looking.
