Description
Stunning Green stepped Art Deco bowl, by L.E. Smith / Co-Operative Flint Glass Co. 1930-1945.We started sorting this family owned estate with 24 rooms , 20 years ago! We are now down sizing and selling some of the more rare pieces we kept.
All of the glass was found in either wooden crates or wooden barrels in the basement wrapped in newsprint of the day, or in a straw material.. Some of the glass dated as far back as the 1880's right up until the mid 1940's.
That being said this piece has been in my cabinet for those 20 years since we found it. Never used. Please see picture of the base < pics 11 & 12 >, NO wear at all.
The bowl is a stunning Emerald Green. It has tribal type patterns all around the " stepped sides ". There are straw marks, mold lines and bubbles trapped in the glass, I could not find any imperfections on this piece , I myself would call it Pristine!
I found the following on the web about this piece:
Wigwam is a beautiful and Art Deco pattern that has only four pieces and comes in a variety of colors. It was originally designed and produced in the early 1930’s by Co-Operative Flint. Around 1935, when Co-Operative Flint was experiencing financial difficulty, they sold their molds to L. E. Smith who produced the line until the mid-forties.
The bowl measures: 9 1/8'' wide X 4 7/8'' high.
Fantastic piece to add to your Art Deco collection or rare / H.T.F. glass collection.
