This is the Vanden Plas edition of the 2000 Jaguar XJ8 which features the extended wheelbase and all luxury features available for that model year. Mileage is only ~43,000 and the condition is spectacular. There is zero rust, and there are zero problems. Every single feature works.
Anyone familiar with the X308 series of Jaguars (XJ8s from 1997-2003) will know there were a few shortcoming from the factory which must be addressed for peace of mind, all of which I did after buying the car in early 2019. There was nothing wrong with the car even then, but I did this work purely to prevent future problems. Receipts will be included to document the following:
Replaced the factory plastic timing chain tensioners to the upgraded metal versions, this is the most crucial thing that must be done on any X308 and is not cheap. Also replaced the timing chains themselves as well as the guides, all gaskets and seals on the valve covers, timing chain cover (including crankshaft seal), intake manifold and throttle body. Also replaced the plastic thermostat housing with an aluminum version, replaced for good measure the 3-way coolant connector and coolant crossover pipe, and all radiator and heater hoses. We also performed a BG Engine Performance Restoration cleaner process then put in new oil.
Second concern is the factory plastic impeller water pump, this was replaced with the metal version.
Third concern is an A Clutch Drum failure in the ZF 5HP24 transmission, ultimately caused by wear in the pressure regulator valve bore which leads to pressure spikes. I had the transmission completely rebuild with a Transgo upgraded pressure regulator valve, a heavy duty A Clutch Drum replacement, and of course all new frictions, steels, gaskets, rings, and seals. At the same time I also had the torque converter rebuilt and installed a new trans mount.
Other minor things that are common issues on these cars but not critical were also addressed. The electronic rearview mirror starts to leak after enough years, this was professionally rebuilt by Sybesma's. Rear trunk struts were replaced, and the front driver's door has had the door catch arm replaced.
All the above work cost me more than ,000 but anyone looking for an X308 will need to address them eventually so take that into account when you look at other cars from this model range. This car has had it all done and at only 43,000 miles on the clock, it's ready for another 20 years of luxury driving.
As mentioned before, every single feature on this car works as it should. This includes the electric windows and locks; wireless keyfobs with trunk release (2 sets of keys and fobs are included), 2-way sunroof; electric adjustable seats, electric adjustable steering wheel and side mirrors; heated seats (front and back); rear defroster; cruise control; auto headlights and auto wipers; climate control system (AC and heat); all lights including fog lights; integrated garage door openers; stereo and 6 disc CD changer and retractable antenna.
Additionally an aftermarket Bluetooth module was installed, it was designed specifically for this model of Jaguar and plugs between the CD changer and amplifier in the trunk. Nothing is changed from the stock setup, nothing is visible, and the CD changer functionality is maintained, but you can now also listen to streaming music from your phone. If you want to remove the module it is a five minute job.
The car is wearing Pirelli Cinturato P7 AS Plus tires mounted in February 2019 (including on the full size spare), they only have 3,000 miles on them. The car comes with a Cover Zone indoor car cover.
History - I purchased this car in 2019 and all I know of its prior history is what can be gleaned from the CarFax. It had two owners, both in Pennsylvania until it was sold to a dealer in Virginia in 2018, and that is who I bought it from (he posted it on eBay). Under my ownership it has always been garaged and I can only assume it must have been all the prior years as well given the excellent body condition.
Purchase - This car has a clean Kansas title in my name and is located in Wichita, Kansas.
